Thank you Arizona Tile for hosting our May 20th meeting - Kitchen Design with Cooking In Mind. This two-hour presentation was developed by Don Silvers, a Certified Kitchen Designer and a Chef, approved by NKBA and presented by two of our Board members, Ric Coggins of BSH and Bill Smith, CKD.

Working within all aspects of kitchen design, aesthetics and functionality, the main perspective in this presentation is that of the cook. Silvers points out that when designing from this point of view it is paramount to create a space that makes the cook’s job easier whether that function is cooking, baking, cleaning or enjoying family gatherings. It all starts with the kitchen questionnaire and results in a space that can be functional, aesthetically pleasing, social and intimate. As an added bonus, everyone who attended the presentation received the 2008 Best of America’s Test Kitchens cookbook.
